ORDINANCE NO. 32 SERIES OF 2015
An ordinance integrating the city health facilities and resources, creating the rural health units, providing funds therefor, and for other purposes.
Summary: General Santos City plans to establish eight rural health districts to improve health care access and better serve its 26 barangays. Spearheaded by City Councilor Rosalita Nuñez, the initiative aims to organize and streamline health services, ensuring each community receives focused care. Each district will be supported by one or more Rural Health Units (RHUs), depending on population needs. These RHUs will offer comprehensive services—including birthing facilities, consultations, and diagnostics—and be staffed by essential medical personnel. Funded by the city government through the City Health Office, the RHUs will work closely with barangay health centers, while the General Santos City Hospital will serve as their main referral hub. The proposal reflects a stronger commitment to delivering quality health care directly to the people.
