First MPOX Case in Region-12, confirmed

GENERAL SANTOS CITY [April 28, 2025] – The first confirmed case of mpox (monkeypox) in Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) occurred in Tulunan, Cotabato Province, involving a 30-year-old male patient. This case was reported by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in the Soccsksargen region on April 27, 2025. The patient sought early medical consultation after experiencing symptoms and was confirmed to have the Clade II variant of the mpox virus. He is currently stable and under isolation, with all identified close contacts traced and quarantined.
